This 75 minute production turned out to be an excellent example of Shakespeare's story brought to life. It was set in the apocalyptic future where anarchy and the supernatural appear to be possible. Major themes were strategically highlighted through simple properties and patterns in dialogue. Macbeth was portrayed as a strong and capable hero, that was quickly swayed to perform evil and dangerous acts of violence in order to achieve his goals. The weird sisters took on a complete new interpretation as they infiltrated the everyday lives of the Macbeth's - influencing their daily operations and decisions.
The play ended with the cast spending some time answering questions, and explaining the productions vision and direction with their young audience. A hearty thank you goes out to the entire production crew and cast of Macbeth at the Shakespeare Theater! You did a great job and I know our students will be eagerly awaiting for next year to return for this amazing opportunity to see Shakespeare's words - brought to life!
